The Path Forward

The current near-term fixes are the following:

  • Art assets that are created by our team for simple placeholders that better match the theming.
  • While the original line of thinking was to use full 360 movement; we shall be converting this over to the more tradition 8-way input for comparison / implementation.
  • Restructuring of the project - the team now has a clearer vision and what the requirements will be. The project structure and infrastructure will be refactored to be more coherent and flexible.
  • The camera present here needs more easing and further developmental work to feel more natural.

Also, we are aware there is multiplayer options that do not work. This is leftover was local testing (which is successfully working). The localhost placeholder label at the bottom of the game is already removed and will be absent in the next build.

Upon the near-term objectives being complete, we will be slowly introducing classes into the game as well as more content in the form of monsters. The first class currently planned is a Warrior. We will be creating this up to level 10 with all the appropriate feats, skills, etc that would apply in a D&D setting. We will be using the same experience system and battle encounter difficulties. The idea here is to test all the interconnected modules (such as skills, feats, etc) in a "Gauntlet-like" environment and determine how said abilities should be implemented into the theming of the game.

If you are interested in this project and would like to assist in development, it would be beyond appreciated a donation as this is being built by a two-person team with a not-significant amount of tech and hardware to finally make this dream a reality. For full transparency, these purchases include a MacBook, iPad, iPhone, two separate windows machines of varying quality and an android device in order to test full compatibility and cross-platform support. We use a combination of Photoshop, Asperity, and Pixquare to create our artwork. A piano with full midi support has also been purchased along with countless programming books.. All of this has come out of my own pocket as the owner over the last 5 or so years,

By no means is that a cry for help or seeking any sort of sympathy but a helping hand in all this would not only be amazingly appreciated but also will be directly added to development aides (and, in the case of things actually taking off upon release or this garnering enough interest), add on another member or two to our two-person staff.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! Expect a dramatic difference next major patch; we have many things planned that will change not only the appearance of the world but also the base mechanics. As the owner, I will be attempting to keep a running devlog of anything interesting that has come up, problems we are/have ran into, sharing new feature and screenshots, and so on.

If you have any questions or suggestions, PLEASE know the lines of communication are always open. Feel free to email us at: beef.erikson.studios@gmail.com with the subject: "Game Project" or simply just reply to this post. I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions as we continue to develop this.
